Tom, Dick, and Harry: The Great Escape

Tunnel Harry

Take a gander. Not a lot there, but an interesting overview of a tunnel, as used in The Great Escape.

Methinks a slight case of claustrophobia would have relegated me to the support troops on this one!

There is an interesting memorial under construction in Poland now at the site where the camp used to be.

Wow, what a novel idea for an interactive wenpage. I love the "searchlight" word boxes!

One of the parts of the Great Escape that always intrigued me was the bedboards used for the shoring up of the tunnel. How on earth did they sleep on all those bunks with that many boards missing...and how did the guards miss the fact that so many were missing, as they routinely inspected the barracks, and surely "rearranged" a bunk or two to check the flooring beneath?
