Re: The Volkssturm

If any one knows this one I'll be surprised The Volkssturm used about one hundred of these wepons during the battle of Berlin.

It was turned down for major production because it was ugly.

Re: The Volkssturm

It's an Ermawherke EMP-44 n' was a simplyfied mechanism from the MP40 (also Ermawherke) with more use of stamped steelplates in order to cut production cost n' time with heavy influences from the English Sten Mk. II n' the Russian PPS-43.

The main reason for it bein' dropped from production wasn't the cheap look of it but that the StG44 allready was in full production n' set to replace both the MP40 n' the Kar98.

Re: The Volkssturm

A weapon can be as effective ugly as a beautiful one. Just look at the Sten gun that was produced in large numbers n' used a lot but it was still really butugly.

Re: The Volkssturm

I'm not saying it wasn't effective I read it was pretty good I just think it's ugly. Some nice looking wepons can really suck somtimes and the ugly ones replace them just look at page one the Gewehr 71 got replaced by the Gewehr 88 and that thing was better than th Gewehr 71 which is a really nice looking wepon while it wasn't as good as the replacement the Gewehr 88 which not really a nice looking wepon. You have a very good point.

Re: The Volkssturm

I've only seen static images of the Panzerfaust 150 n' no combat pictures or even a picture of a soldier/Volksturm man holdin' it.

Edit: Thanks for that photo Kurtis! It's all new to me.
