Char b1 bis

while I wait for the inspiration to start the paint of the Flak, here´s another one ready for the paint tunnel.

This time is Tamiya Char B1 Bis 1/35 scale. A joy of kit!!!. Perfect joints, no too more parts, and clear plastic (if DML had done this kit we´ll get 5936 parts for the kit and 9000 for the spare parts box, 23 plastic sprues and two metal chains...and one rope ).

Easy to do, and perfect to enjoy a short build and a lot a painting technics.

let´s go!!

Kit with finished build, JGSDF Brown pre-shading, and base coat 60% Dark Yellow, 20% Buff and 20% White. (all from Tamiya)

It´s based on this picture: (ONY FOR DISCUSSION ON THIS FORUM)

with this scheme:

BATTLE ORDER MAY 13th 1940

15th BCC. 1st company - 2nd section - vehicle 257 (Bourrasque).

FAMH scheme. Knocked out by german infantry on May 17 1940.

ONLY FOR DISCUSSION ON THIS FORUM

...in a few days I´ll post some paint steps pictures.

cheers!

Lookin' good indeed! I've got the same kit in roughly the same spot among my dormant kits. I agree totaly in that Tamiya really have done a marvelous kit with it as it's a pure joy to put together. I notice by the small extra headlamp that you're plannin' a different kit than me on it in the end.

Lookin' forward to see the rest of yer build mate!

Re: Char b1 bis

Very nice. One of my favourites as a tank due it's 'having character' and the possibility of a nice camo scheme. Looking forward to seeing the rest as you go..... followed by somebody building a Somua (hint, hint)...

Re: Char b1 bis

I've read great things about this kit and it seems that Tamiya have produced a beautiful kit. Looking great Kawalsky...I enjoy the subtlety of your painting.
Peace.

Be sure in a few days I´ll post here a step by step of the painting guide of this one.

Then you´ll see how works Tensocrom and pigments when mixed.

Cheers.

Re: Char b1 bis

Me too. I have some pigments but haven't really used them yet. It will be good to see somebody who knows what they're doing use them. Thanks Carlos.
Peace.

Re: Char b1 bis

The more I see this kit, the more I want to build one. When it was released, the magazines were raving about it saying it was an exceptional kit...then the aftermarket people released detail sets and crew figures...great stuff. I believe Friulmodel now have tracks for it too.
Peace.

Re: Char b1 bis

You don´t need Friul for this kit, friend. The kit comes with a very good track set.

But if you want to detail it, you can use this:

for the French version

or this one for the German version
