Re: Diorama Construction - Opel Blitz/flak38

Well since I haven't attempted a dio for so long, I thought I'd start by aiming a little lower. I plan to see how my current Pz. IV turns out. If it's worth it, I may put it on a simple base to see how it looks. However I DO own a PE detail set for an Elefant and still collecting. I hear Dragon has a pretty good kit out there...

Re: Diorama Construction - Opel Blitz/flak38

Sorry about the lack of pics guys, been really busy during the week. I will have something new for this thread this weekend, I promise. May even break out the "Celluclay" if I can find what I'm looking for vegetation-wise.

Re: Diorama Construction - Opel Blitz/flak38

I really got into the wall and the newest addition to the base - a roadsign. Spent the better part of all day working on these two items, sorry LT, no celluclay, not yet.

Washed and drybrushed - dark/light/darker/lighter the wall, sealed it with some "Matt" finish acrylic sealer.... far from flat, gonna need some Model Master Clear Flat before I'm done with it:

Need some clear flat on the sign as well. Got a lot of "touch up" work to do on the sign edges and weathering of the signs and post :

Re: Diorama Construction - Opel Blitz/flak38

I neglected to cover a couple of addittions in my last post. If you thought you saw a piece of camo. netting draped along the "up-side" of the Blitz, you were correct - Surgical Gauze, wife doesn't realize that she's donated it yet.

Back in about 1980, I purchased two braided lengths of theatrical crepe hair, this was at the suggestion of Shep Payne (My Hero) in one of his books. Almost forgot I had them, the lighter colored one will make excellent desert grass.

More to come as soon as I do it,

Re: Diorama Construction - Opel Blitz/flak38

That gauze caught my eye Dave...it looks excellent. I'll have to get some pics of some of the stuff I find in my own yard. I'm ALWAYS collecting stuff, even if I have no specific plans for it...crikey, if I die tomorrow my family are going to find all manner of stuff in my study. We get a particular kind of lichen that grows on the trees. I've collected tons of it. It never discolours and is so tough it doesn't crumble when it dries out. I also have a couple of hydrangea flowers that have died and dropped their petals. They'll make excellent trees with some foliage attached.
What's the story behind the 'Desrt Rat' on the sign...is it a warning? 'Bad guys that way'?

"There's a Tommy Minefield 6 km in this direction" I sure had to institute a little artistic license with that one eh?

Thanks for asking Geek,
