Still using those "Cheap" Plaid Brand acrylics from Wal-Mart (68cents each) and mixing my own colours. As long as I keep a paint chip from the previous session I can match it with no problem.

Been slack on working on it, but I will finish the base in One Fell Swoop, as soon as I get a visual on my final vegetation. Gotta mix it up. Got a lot of drybrushing yet to do on that "Dirt" base as well.

Re: Diorama Construction - Opel Blitz/flak38

Got the rest of the celluclay down this morning, rocks down too. Need to change some ground colors around here and there and do some blending once the celluclay is dry. Not real pleased with the sign either, gonna' change that as well.

The celluclay is already dry! Got to make it thick, as little water as you can get away with. Still have some dry-brushing to do on the base and of course the figures need finishing, need a new sign - other than that here it is.

Excellent stuff Razor...I love the colour of the groundwork so far. It looks very realistic rather than 'store-bought' or cliched. Congratulations mate.

Thanks Geek,
I think it'll look better once I've done a bit of color blending on the base.

Well I'll certainly be interested to see what becomes of it mate. As you may remember, I'm working (not much at the moment actually ) on a DAK Panzer IV and I've been wondering what colours to use when weathering it. All the pics I have (not many) are in black and white so discerning a colour that doesn't look too 'comic-book' is hard. The hues on your base look like what I visualized. ie. Not 'Sahara sand yellow'.

Nice ground work indeed, so the colors were all mixed in with the celluclay,
even the rock, or was the rock added later then painted?

The rock "medium" was mixed with an ochre colour when wet. After it dried I made the mistake of shading it a pinkish - tan color. Now I am changing the colour back to more of an ochre color, to match the rocks on the base.

Re: Diorama Construction - Opel Blitz/flak38

Worked on the base some more today. Blended the ground tones a bit, worked on the wall colour in an attempt to make the desert camo paint on the truck "work". Modified the sign as well, not sure I will keep it though, we'll see.

Painting the crew is the next step.

Nice work. The gun and truck look suitably 'used'.

Are the figures partly Academy ones ? They look modified but familiar.
