Yeah Emery, I have already hmmm... hinted softly about his possible involvement in such a thread.
(You will see it posted somewhere.)

Sorry mate and Yes, metal PE parts need to be Super Glued on .
(Normal model glue doesn't adhere to metal.)

Cheers,
Dave

Re: 1/48 WWII German AFV Diorama

Well folks here is another kit for you to have a closer look at:

Gaso.line's 1/48 scale Radio Kubelwagen conversion kit (Resin.) for the Tamiya 1/48 Kubelwagen.

My first impression of this resin kit is a very good one indeed, as it has excellent and detailed casting.
(But I haven't assembled it yet, so I will reserve my final judgement of the kit until then.)

Here are some photos so you can judge it for yourself.

Cheers,
Dave

Re: 1/48 WWII German AFV Diorama

I went to the hobby shop today only to get some paints but...
(You guys know what its like when you walk inside one.)

Anyhow I ended up walking out of there with my paints and another 2 models for the diorama.

I really do have to stop adding to it or it will be a monster-sized project that will take forever to complete.

Cheers,
Dave

Oooooo...I like that 20mm Flak! Nice! When doing artilery, is there a good method, other than paint, to get the mucky grease look on the appropriate areas? I've not been able to find anything on this subject.

Re: 1/48 WWII German AFV Diorama

Hooray, my hand is good enough to start modelling again.
(But getting the time to actually do them is another story.)

Still, I have made a start on the diorama again now and been busy working on the Bandai/Funman 1/48 'Wespe' Sd.Kfz.124 kit for it.

As you can see I have assembled most of its parts like the 105mm Howitzer, the Upper Hull and painted its Panzer Grey base colour but not glued all the sections together as yet, to make it easier to get in and detail them all first.

Cheers,
Dave

Grease can be a pain. A bit of brown and some black is good if you can streak them and add varnish of some kind after, makes it look thicker and a bit gooey. Another way is a blob of white glue which you can paint over after.

Re: 1/48 WWII German AFV Diorama

For grease and oil, I use oil paint. For 'dry' stains, dilute the paint with turpentine...for 'wet' stains dilute with linseed oil.
