Re: Revell B-24 Liberator.

Y'know, a buddy of mine who flies out of Willow Run airport has been working with the museum down there. They're planning a rather large (f'in' big, actually! I've seen photos!!) of the B-24 production plant. There are going to be several aircraft (1/72) shown in various stages of production. I'm looking forward to seeing the final product!!!

Re: Revell B-24 Liberator.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but Willow Run was actually the Consolidated facility built in California (?).
I know Consolidated was based in Buffalo but moved to California to take advantage of the milder weather to enable year round manufacture.

Re: Revell B-24 Liberator.

I've started a B-26 here in the truck but I'll switch over to the B-24 when I get home. I'm not making much progress on the Marauder anyways, they've been running the piss out of me lately.

Re: Revell B-24 Liberator.

Yeah, and one of these years, I'm going to have time to go see it!!!

I think it was last summer, I was outside, and heard a strange noise in the sky. Turned out to be a P-51. Awestruck kinda describes my reaction...

Re: Revell B-24 Liberator.

I can well imagine that too. I remember going to our local airshow once in the seventies. There were all manner of aircraft being flown, C-130s, Caribou's, Macchi trainers...even the F111 breaking the sound barrier and flying with its afterburner...all of it paled into insignificance for me when the P-51 flew over. Aviation with the romance left in...doesn't get any better.

Re: Revell B-24 Liberator.

when it was the 50th anniversary of D-Day, portsmouth was the hub of the celebrations. all the world leaders were there and they didn't spare the celebrations. they had the stealth bombers, all the modern jets, most of the second world war aircraft but the thing that struck me the most and sent shivers down my spine was the 8 spitfires flying in formation at low level. to hear 8 merlin engines flying overhead was something i would never, ever forget.

Re: Revell B-24 Liberator.

Looks pretty nice JJ...although I'm cynical about those figures. Often, they seem to be a bit of an afterthought and not as well sculpted as the model parts...I hope they're good. Great decals.
