Revell B-24 Liberator.

i went into the model shop to pick up a tin of paint but i walked out with a 1:48 Revell B-24 Liberator. What a fantastic kit. i've always loved the "Libby" but when i saw it in the store, i knew it was mine because it was calling out to me. the chap who runs the shop opened the box up for me and i was amazed. not only has it got the crew, it's also got the tow tractor and the crew for when in flight or the ground crew. this is 1:48 so you can imagine the sheer size of it. i'll put some pics up soon.

Re: Revell B-24 Liberator.

Please do JJ...the B-24 is my favourite four engined bomber. If it's a good kit, I'll probably get one. 1/48 is my favoured scale. What version is it?

Re: Revell B-24 Liberator.

hi nick. it's the B-24D, my favourite version. it has 2 different decals. the first is for "flak alley" of the 44th bomber group, 68th bomber squadron based in shipdham in England in 1943. that's the one i'm going to build. the 2nd is from the 98th bomber group, 343th bomber squadron that was used as a US war bond tour promotion aircraft that flew around the states after the polesti raids to raise money for war bonds. it even has decals to show where the aircraft was hit with flak to show the public. also on it is a map of where the aircraft flew and bombed along with promotional logos.

Too bad I'm not at home. I could build Mongram's old B-24J alongside you.

Now that would have been cool. A duel Follow Build with two different versions of the same plane.

Re: Revell B-24 Liberator.

I'm coming off the road for good in Sept to goto school so maybe I can catch up. I have already decided on an assembly aircraft paint job.

Maybe JJ can hold off a month and you two can star on the same date.

I know, JJ I know, that's a lot to ask of big beautiful kit beggin' to get built.

Oh it's a 'D'. Shame...my favourite is the 'J'...looks more purposeful in the nose area.

Re: Revell B-24 Liberator.

i know what you're saying about the J, it's the better looking of the libbies but there is something about the D's i love. and as for cyberia's suggestion about holding off, i might just do that. i've got a panther, a panzer 4, the corsair and a m4 high speed tractor still to finish. if i can be a good boy (which i doubt) i might make the libby a winter project but i'm itching to start right now.

Re: Revell B-24 Liberator.

The 'D' has a certain something too...especially the versions with three guns in the nose.
