Re: Miniatures - You play - I do the work
I like some of the moves being made. Very interesting.
It is time for the German defensive fire Phase. This is mostly obvious so it comes down to rolls. The Panzer IV has a ping at the 6lber since the Valentine is not a threat. A suppression on the 6lber. The Panzer III and one section fire at close range against the closest infantry section. An elimination. The Panzer II and other troops along the front of the ridge manage to suppress one more unit. The troops on top of the ridge have their eye in and eliminate another British section with a brilliant shot. The British section on the right end of the ridge is suppressed after taking double fire. The 88 lines up against the Dingo - this crew are shockers - no effect. After all that. Three suppressions and importantly two British sections eliminated. Close Combat Phase. Dingo vs. 88 The Dingo doesn't get much of an add but the gun has a big negative due to it's disordered status. The Dingo crew sprays the gunpit with machine gun fire. The gun crew try to use the shield as cover. Hand grenades make that idea less attractive as the gun commander realises before his last breath. The 88 is no more. It is now the German Artillery and Mortar Phase. |

Finally, that 88 took a lot of hits, before it went down, and, so it did'nt do any damage, so to speak. But just think of all the shells and trouble it took, that otherwise would have been pointed at something else!!!!

Re: Miniatures - You play - I do the work
Yes, that 88 certainly took up your best artillery firepower for more than half the game to this stage. It also cost one Crusader in a round about sort of way.
Speaking of artillery...... German Artillery Phase. The artillery ranges in on the British infantry. It is close to it's own front line so there is a 10% chance of hitting German troops as well. No. The ranging is good. Up to this stage the German guns haven't been hitting targets much at all. Sometimes nothing changes. The troops hit are still suppressed and no worse off. The mortar fires and does no damage either. Now the interesting part. The German Offensive Fire Phase. Will they hit enough British units to make them waver or even head backwards? Will the shooting be so bad the British will be able to advance into the German line next turn? German orders to come soon...... same Bat channel and so on...... |

Re: Miniatures - You play - I do the work
The Crusader attacked the 88 in the same circumstances and the crew ran off to return later. The Dingo does it and wipes them out. Strange things happen.
Anyway - German offensive fire phase. The Hannomag gets a shot in at the 6lber. A very good one too as it fully disorders the AT gun. The Panzer IV and infantry on the right flank fire at the British platoon rushing them. Another disorder on one. The Panzer II and III blast away at the infantry in front of and to the left of the ridge. The German infantry join in. As a result the British now have three sections disordered and two suppressed. The brave little Dingo meets it's match with the armoured car, and meets it's maker. A brilliant flank shot from the A/car brews the little bloke up. You have to wonder why this crew wasn't put on the 88 in the first place. The German units reorder and must now survive the defensive fire of the British. |

And that little Dingo was so young, too...taken way before his time, I say!
Nice game so far lads...Magna, I look forward to many many more of these. The time and care you've put into thisw is truly comendable, my friend...and I'm not just sucking up here in hopes that my little Dingo will come back from the Great Eternal Wadi!!!

Magna, could the British get a couple pics here when you have a moment? It is at the critical stage and we have to know which units specifically were effected please.
A totally disordered 6 pound gun can fire VERY poorly, but could it dig in instead with a good chance? Cheers, more later as to questions after the pics. Tommy and WR
