Re: Miniatures - You play - I do the work

BRITISH ARTILLERY PHASE.

Cripes you poms!! When your lucks in, it's really in.

The artillery comes screaming in on the German positions.

The truck is obliterated immediately (yes, trucks do count for numbers when checking morale and losses).

On the right, the Panzer IV and the section in the rocks to it's right are both hit badly. Two disorders there.

The Panzer III and the section to it's left are next to be hit. The Panzer III is suppressed with a good shot. The section next to it was hiding in the smoke. The smoke is now going and the section is already gone to keep the truck company.

Two disorders, one suppression, two eliminations. Very good shooting.

The ridge to the left of the Panzer III is now manned by one section only, which is now disordered due to a brilliant shot from the mortar.

I know I said I wanted you guys to get on and do but that's taking things a bit literally isn't it?

Hagen is going to start thinking he is being picked on you know.

It is now the British offensive fire phase, to be followed by movement.

Hagen, is it just pretty much just you now my friend, if so, sorry to hear that. You still have a chance here, anything can and probably will happen in these final turns.

Cheers, orders sent to Dave, lets see if this will finish the game........

Re: Miniatures - You play - I do the work

BRITISH OFFENSIVE FIRE / MOVEMENT PHASE.

No firing this time which is understandable as it is apparently 'over the top time'.

Orders came through to the British units to move forward and push the enemy off the ridge.

On the left flank the Grant manages to roar up the left slope to attempt to crush the lone section guarding that side of the ridge. The British infantry attempts to go to the same position as the Grant but their morale is not good. Only one section arrives to help the tank out. Two others nearly make it to the rocks while the last three reorder but are staying put at this stage.

On the right the Valentine has had another Jekyll/Hyde pill. It blew away the 251 and now it moves back one action disordered (again). This unit is shaky at best.

The brave infantry on the right stay in place but due to enemy fire and their own losses they fail to reorder. Once again the right flank is stagnant for the British.

It all comes down to the close combat to take place on the left of the ridge. A success for the British and the Germans will have no choice but to pull out to the right to save their tanks. A successful defence by the Germans and they may be able to get their tanks moving to the left along with their infantry and overrun the British troops.

It is now the German defensive fire phase followed by any close combat. Good luck to all.

Re: Miniatures - You play - I do the work

GERMAN DEFENSIVE FIRE PHASE.

German def fire orders are in already. Here we go.

The section on the left ridge top fires at the British section which is closing fast. No effect, just.

The Panzer III takes a quick shot from it's flank at the Grant as it reaches the crest of the ridge. Again, no effect, but only just.

The other German infantry fires at the British infantry who are almost in the rocks, suppressing one. The Panzer IV has a bad shot due to it's disordered status.

Not much happened this time.

CLOSE COMBAT.

One British section and one Grant tank - both in good order - against one German section dug in - disordered.

OUCH!! The German section is eliminated by the British bayonets. The British take the position. The ridge is now in joint ownership.

It is the German artillery phase to be followed by offensive fire / movement.

Re: Miniatures - You play - I do the work

I have to admit that the length of this one, for a test out the players game, has really hung in nicely, and turned in many unexpected ways. Magna, you've hosted a wonderful game here mate, and I hope you have many more of them here in the Den! Good Onya mate!!! (...did I say that right?)

Its been a great battle, and a great pleasure to match wits with you Whiterook and you TRDG. The game appears to be winding down and hopefully we'll fight many more battles either as allies or enemies it will be a pleasure either way.

Cheers
