Re: Miniatures - You play - I do the work
Okay. The Germans have had their defensive fire. The Panzer IV fired from it's flank at the Crusader with no effect.
The Panzer III took a shot at the Valentine - a hit and a suppression. The Panzer II and recon vehicle shot at the Dingo with no effect. The sleeping giant awakes - a large calibre gun fires from a dug in position on the reverse slope of the ridge. Surprise surprise, it's target is the Crusader. WHAM!! - Plink - the shot shaves the hull and roars off in the direction of Mars. The Crusader is suppressed and the 88mm is exposed. An obvious response and very lucky for the British. Sorry about the dice rolls to the German commanders but war is hell. End of defensive fire. Next comes the German move. Stay tuned. |

Re: Miniatures - You play - I do the work
German Turn Two.
Artillery. Called in on the British infantry near the Wadi. No artillery came in at all. Mortar fire was put down on the same infantry with their commander then suppressed. Offensive fire. The Panzer IV and 231 did not fire as the wanted to reorder and go on overwatch. The Panzer III fired again at the Valentine which stayed suppressed. The 88 crew were nervous as they took second shot at the Crusader. Their commander had drawn his pistol (funny how stress can bring out the Luger in a man) after the last shot. The 88 fires again - Plink ? - No. More of a Clunk / Crack sound. The Crusader is disordered and there are a lot of loose rivets as well as teeth in that tank. The Panzer II switches targets to the infantry with no effect. Movement. The 231 rolls for reordering and fails. It sits disordered and does not move. The tanks roll and the Panzer IV reorders although it can't move. It is once again fighting fit. The German infantry rolls and the men in the truck dismount and move up the left of the ridge. All in all not a great move for the Germans but at the same time no losses either - the 88 commander has put his Luger away for the moment. The artillery was a let down but that's what happens sometimes. It is now the British defensive fire phase. I shall wait for a PM from the tea slurpers on this one. Shouldn't take long though. Note that the Panzer IV reordered and did not move. This means it is on overwatch and can fir during the BRITISH defensive fire phase - it can only fire at a unit which fires first. If no British unit in range fires then the Pz IV cannot fire. If British units fire then the Pz IV can fire at them. The Panzer IV can fire at units which fire at another target. e.g. The Valentine fires at the Panzer III. The Valentine becomes a valid target for the Panzer IV on overwatch because the Valentine has fired. |

Re: Miniatures - You play - I do the work
To quote Maxwell Smart - "Sorry about that".
The thing here is that the Panzer IV must take fire from the British first so it could be destroyed or disordered BEFORE it can fire, that is the catch with overwatch. It's other option would have been to fire disordered with the accompanying 30% penalty. It could still happen depending on the British defensive fire. |
