Question Do you Pre-Order Games?

Just curious how many folks take advantage of Pre-Order. Many companies are jumping on the Pre-Order bandwagon, where they announce a forthcoming product due out "soon", and take advanced order...often at substantial or nominal cost savings. Some actually base actual production of the game on Pre-Orders, such as one companies' P-500 system where 500 copies need to be purchased in advance before they even put it to th presses and production line.

So, do you Pre-Order?

Re: Do you Pre-Order Games?

While I'm not much of a gamer, I do pre-order books and occasionally other merchandise. As long as the company verifies that they will not charge your card until they ship you are relatively "safe". Dealing with a reputable vendor also helps. I recently pre-ordered a new laptop bag because I need one and they are coming out with airport scanner friendly bags. I haven't been charged and the company, a big bag manufacturer, hasn't actually released the product. Hopefully I will have it before the card that I gave them expires.

Wink Re: Do you Pre-Order Games?

That all depends, my main game that I order is, well, you know what (FoW), If you pre-order some items you sometimes get an extra item or two, say on a new Battlebook you get a free special figure and rules to go with it, or maybe a % off of another product. A revised version of the FoW late-War book will be out next month, and id you have the old one and show up with it at the store, you can get another free Battle book.

Cheers, so yes to pre-order, but more for getting these items as soon as possible, then a freebe or two as well.

Hmmmm, didn't know there was such a thing coming out as a scanner friendly computer bag, but it makes perfect sense! I wonder if it'd be hard to get the TSA dudes and dudettes to not make you pull the laptop out still, 'cause they don't know what it is?

Pre-order is indeed a great way to go, but agreed...from a reputable, known dealer definitely helps...good point.

That's awesome.....more manufactures should take advantage of similar, as a bit of a freebie can be low cost on their end, and turn the head positively for consumers. It's a little thing certainly, and not necessarily a deal beaker, but throwing the consumer a bone can go a long way. It ticked me off a tad, to see dealers at the Origins Game Fair dealers hall selling their wares for full price...I know it's just business but, like I said, a bone goes a long way...for instance, the game Conflict of Heroes I bought came with an extra "swamp" game board available only to convention goers...that meant a lot to me, and ensured them many future sales from me. Buying loyalty is a marketing strategy lost on many retailers.
