Re: Flames of War

A very good point TRDG! The low cost of Classic Armor is a definite plus to both newcomers, as well as miniatures gamers that want to design a specific scenario that utilizes many more units than perhaps they have in their other "system".

And an excellent point on being able to repaint them. I had thought of doing the same with some repainting of some of my Axis & Allies Miniature...the Base Set M4A1 Shermans, for example, are horrifically bland and momotone; but sealing them afterwards is the big issue for me. In my limited experience painting miniatures, the different products I have used leave them permanaently tacky in feel, which really stinks, as they collect fingerprints and cat hair!

The big problem with Classic Armor, too, is their availability. Even the bunch I bought at Wal-Mart amounted to about 5 different tanks. There is a much larger selection, but all the Wallys in my are carried the same stock. I've seen a greater selection online, but haven't checked lately; and even then, they were double and triple the cost of what I paid at Wal-Mart.

Cool Re: Flames of War

I got my FoW order Friday, minus the Bagration book, it is still hung up in customs!!!

The Strel Army box feels like it weighs 10 pounds, WOW, Sturm Co looks good to, and let us not forget he Penal SMG Company, with a nurse figure added to the commander, nice, love the special rules as well!!

Cheers, time to get busy glueing and painting!!!

Re: Flames of War

What exactly is it you got there good buddy? I take it it's not the Firestorm boardgame, as it's not due out until Dcember 2008. I'm a little confused because, the Flames of War web site has a short piece on their Firestorm-Bagration game, but your mentioning the sans rulebook thing has me scratching my head.

Wink Re: Flames of War

These are models for the 1 of 4 divisional books that will be out for the Bagration Operation this year and next. It will probably have something to do with Firestorm, but no idea until it comes out, say from Battle book 1, Stalin's Onslaught, yu can use these Companies to play a Firestorm Campaign, get it??

Cheers, you can also just use these forces I bought for regular FoW games, Firestorm is a n"extra"!!

Re: Flames of War

Ahhhhh, got it! Very cool. I'm excited about the boardgame component...to be truthful, it's great marketing strategy really; and by that I mean, for those folks like myself, who am interested enough in Flames of War to have it on my radar, yet not sure I want to commit to the expense, a boardgame to "hook" me is a great ploy in that, if I like it, they don't have to reel very hard by that point!
