ASL is pretty much an "Infantry" focused game however there has been a mod designed to for running SASL as a more Tank focused game ala Tank SASL. Running a game with 2 full armor companies would be very crowded on the maps BUT I could see running a single company with each player commanding a single tank OR having each player commanding a platoon and then having a 2nd company be Mech Inf with each player commanding a platoon of those. Probably the best option would be a single, mixed armor/mech company . . Perhaps near Ponyri

Re: What hasn't been done?

So many battles are done to death - Battle of the bulge, D-Day, Afrika Korps.....

Me personally, the number one thing id love to see would be the WWII Kurland Pocket battles turned into a game.

Secondly a really good small scale game focused on the war in the pacific. Like say on the scale of ASL's unit size, no larger.

3rd. Id love to see a "Company" sized game on the siezing of Sevastopol.

EDIT: Ooops, hit the edit instead of the quote button mate...sorry 'bout that! Disregard the "Last edited by Whiterook" bit.

Re: What hasn't been done?

For the last year or so I have had a developing interest in the fighting in the Eastern Crimea. In particular, the Soviet landings of late 41 and 43. For a while (till RL intervened) I was working on several projects for both the ASL and Steel Panthers games covering this fighting.

Nice! I like the idea of commanding a tank in a game something like what you have going now. Cool idea!

What do you think of Memoir '44 Pacific Expansion, in terms of what you mentioned? Not quite the same as ASL by a long shot, but of the Pacific theater games I've played, I think it actually quite enjoyable! Of course, you all know I Love Love Love Memoir '44!

Exclamation Re: What hasn't been done?

Whiterook, I also love Memoir 44 and have come up with some of my own scenarios. Look for them on the scenarios from the front.
Iwo Jima: The real thing
Iwo Jima: The real thing 2 Airfield 1
Iwo Jima Airfield 2
Battle of Khalkhyn Gol

Theses scenarios use the Pacific Expansion (Khalkhyn Gol ALSO requires Eastern Front expansion)
I just don't get to play as much anymore. One friend is about to get married, and another friend just doesn't come into town as much anymore (the whole price of gas thing)

But next weekend I will be hosting an overlord game at Diecon 6 in Illinois.

Bagration is my next pick that would be very interesting to play sometime, so many options there as well!!

Cheers, any games that have this huge Operation in it?

I like the pacific expansion alot. As a matter of fact, its my favorite of the bunch with the Russian front comming in a close second.

But i meant a game with more depth than Memior '44, nothing against that game, i enjoy it, but i meant something with a little more if you know what i mean.
