What hasn't been done?

Is there a battle in particular that you think would make an outstanding game?

Oh, funny you should ask, Grasshopper!

Avalance Press (Avalanche Press) is planning a supplemental book (used with their core "boxed" games) on Kursk in the near future!

They have several games covering the Russians...check out "Panzer Grenadier: Road to Berlin", for more on Russian campaigns. Avalanche Press

Also check out "Panzer Grenadier: Eastern Front", for even more on Russian campaigns. Avalanche Press

You might also want to check out "Red Warriors", who's scenarios cover action in the first two years of the Great Patriotic Warm and "Red God of War", which also deals with Operation Mars.

They have a couple on the battle for Stalingrad, but I haven't looked into them in detail.

Very nice my friend, is there anything now, I do know FoW has almost nothing on this, just a crummy PDF that is a "no brainer" there, AARRGGG!!!!!!!!

Cheers, me thinks that an ASL Kursk battle would leave many options here......

Re: What hasn't been done?

Kursk is a good idea as it can be broken down into several actions, each of which can change the next. More like a campaign.

Ooooh, that's a good point Mag! Along that line of thought, Monte Cassino would be another good one; there aren't too many games that I know of that cover it, which surprises me. What's cooler than battling around a rubble fortress Cassino, not Barney)?

Well, if you would check out my 1st post in the current SASL game we are running you might find this is the period (right before the actual fighting at Kursk that is being covered: Reconnaissance at Korocha and in another post I did mention that I would allow players to carry their units into the next battle if we decide to continue.

Heee heeeee, I was going to point that out to Tom, but better from you! I don't think you'll have any problems continuing games of ASL! Even just having started, I get the definite impression that the players love it so far, and I am hopeful that many more will jump in as we get more games going, and word gets around.

Talking Re: What hasn't been done?

Ah, guys?? That was kinda my point, BUT I would like some tanks to run, AND play this from the German side as well!!!

For me that critical battle in provko town, AND the new Panthers and other heavy "new" armour there, now that is well under represented in any game that I know of.

The Panthers ran into a minefield as well as the breakdowns, the Elephants, well.......I could see a battle there as well, but what IF they had some infrantry cover there, that might be a different story then to !!!

Cheers, thoughts gentlemen?

I do have many here, I will start a new thread here Thursday after work on this one, promise!!!

Tom

Re: What hasn't been done?

Who doesn't like tanks!!! For ASL, infantry is the "name of the game" and usually the primary focus. Not sure how much of a mega=tank game you can play with ASL, but I am sure DD would be more than qualified to let us know!
