Do you play music with your boardgaming?

Just wondering if you play music with your boardgaming?

I've played with some gamers that refuse to have any music playing at all, as they claim it to be a distraction; yet others (like my monthly game group) that just has to have tunes (usually Rock) playing in the background!

Personally, when playing my WWII games solitaire, I generally have my I-Pod going full bore. I have a folder on it titled "de Guerre" that is all war theme music (movies, TV, video game scores); I play rock as well; but the best is Stan Kenton Jazz!

I do not play music but listen to talk radio if playing during the day BUT since I play SASL mostly there is no opponent to complain. My 2 kids on the other hand are a distraction.

Yup!! I'm an old Rock 'n' Roller, nothing to loud, as I'm usually able to ignore back ground noise if need be. I've never tried talk radio though, may have to try it sometime.

Ahhh, another rock fan...EXCELLENT!

For some reason, I love listening to Greenday's "American Idiot" while playing Memoir '44! No overlying comment or anything silly. And, I haven't a clue why...just works out that way a lot!

Yeah, only rock or soft-rock. Anything else and people get destracted,
I once did A&A: Europe with Killswitch Engage in the background.
Its alright, but again people do get destracted.

Exclamation Re: Do you play music with your boardgaming?

Very rarely, I usually play in the hobby store and many times it is open for business, so the radio is on, but you really can't hear it!!!

Cheers, if closed some tunes would be nice to have!!

Re: Do you play music with your boardgaming?

Interesting results there mates...I guess some of this comes down to whether it's "background noise", or tandem "inspirational", you know what I mean? Total quiet can be a bit too loud, so to speak...but blood pumping Van Halen can assist in getting your agressive groove-thang happenin'!

Re: Do you play music with your boardgaming?

WAR MUSIC is a Must!!!

The more intense the better (but not too loud to have a conversation). Hard Rock is good: Metallica, Saliva, etc. I've been known to pop in a John Phillips Sousa CD now and again. Wish he had more material!

My whole life has a sound track. I leave the music on even when I'm sleeping. Usually Jazz or something mellow.

For gaming, music is essential
