Dicey Question

OK, a Dicey Question here:

Do you believe we've turned into global idiots, seeing as someone felt it necessary to issue dice with numbers on them, instead of pips?

These actually sell quite well! And I'm not saying specialty die, like 10-sides, etc. I mean the plain 'ol, run of the mill 6-sided white die!

Re: Dicey Question

Un-friggin' real, but hardly surprising.

Next time you go to a convenience store and the bill is $4.63, pull out a $5 bill and let them ring it up with the change amount, then say "Wait, I have three pennies" and see how hard it is for the clerk to make the correct change.

Re: Dicey Question

Scary indeed. That the very basics of arithmetic are beyond the grasp of so many products of US schools does not bode well for the future.

Re: Dicey Question

I recognize that situation. I'm an old store salesman of the old school that over the years have encountered countless of young cashiers that I had to tell how much they should give back when I stod at the opposite side of the desk as a customer.

I don't know about that P-D. I don't have enough fingers to count to 12...

Re: Dicey Question

I thought about making a comment about being able to count to 11 but this is not an "adult" forum.

On the other hand, I did know a lady with six functioning digits on all four limbs. Most times the extra digit is fairly vestigial and is removed in infancy, but she used all 12 of her fingers.
