Re: Who do you know???
Mark Nixon of Squad Leader fame is on another forum I frequent. It's quite interesting to hear what he has to say about developing the game. It was really cool when he posted PDF's of designer's notes and scribbles.

You might have to search the archives for them or ask Mark if he can post them somewhere. His user name is Mark Nixon. You know, I might still have them on DVD. I'll look tomorrow when I look for LAH's stuff.

Re: Who do you know???
I haven't ever met a commercial designer but most of the members of the games group I go to have designed games or rulesets for our own use. They get more elaborate over time and usually draw on experience and other sets of rules or games.
It is fascinating to work this sort of thing out and much is added or changed as we go. I can thoroughly recommend it for anyone interested in gaming and or history. I remember a quote by someone famous - "If you know of a book that should be written and has not been, then you should write it yourself". That's what we do. Good fun. |

I once met a guy at a con that designed a space combat game. I have also designed a space combat game and have been play testing it for about 12 years. And now, I have designed a WW2 tank combat game as well. I would like to publish the space combat game someday. I just don't know how to go about it. I have also some up with my own air unit rules for Memoir 44 because I don't like the air pack rules. My rules can be found at:
Memoir '44 Page of 50th

Re: Who do you know???
Well, for me, I've met a few. The notable are:
Richard Borg, who designed "Memoir '44", "Battlelore", and a host of other great games. A real nice guy, and a talented designer. At Origins 2007. Mark Walker, who designed "Lock 'N Load". Another amazing fellow. At Origins 2007. And at this year's Origins, Uwe Eickert of Academy Games, who designed "Conflict of Heroes", which is shaping up to be one of the hottest new games of the year!
