Wolchow, or walking stick, is a biggie in German culture, especially if one custom carved his own Wolchowstock. For reasons no one is sure of Wolchowstocks became extremely popular among German troops fighting on the Eastern Front, but rarely seen on the Western Front.
Panzer crews evolved the Wolchowstock into a front line art form. ![]() In some cases whole crews would work together on elaborate Panzerwolchowstocks, carving out not only fine scale models of their tanks to top the stick, but listing the names of crew members, operations and awards along the stock.
