Re: Who belongs to IPMS?

Wow...sounds like quite an occasion mate. Our meetings are forty guys looking at a dozen finished or half-finished models over a coffee and a biscuit. Our meetings are a tad more 'intimate' and the only stuff for sale (not always) is stuff some bloke wants to sell from his own stash or maybe some books. No dealers/vendors or anything like that. Then we have a raffle. I've not met a single 'interesting bird' though, despite the fact that some of the guys have very interesting stuff to talk about. Nice one Em...some really nice kits you picked up...the Quad and the Krupp Protze are especially nice.

Re: Who belongs to IPMS?

Thanks Nick! This wasn't one of their regular meetings, though...it was their yearly show they sponsor, I guess through IPMS. Their meetings are a separate thing, held monthly at a church about 45 minutes away in the nearest "big" city, and I'm sure it's more an intimate affair, as you say. I actually saw this show, and therefore learned of their club's existance, through the Events section of FineScale Modeler magazine.

Yeah, I'm real excited about all the models I snagged, though I hadn't intended to spend near that amount of money! But any hobby is pricey. And I was rather surprised I gravatated to the trucks/semi-tracks. It was really information overload, with all the models there. Quite a few new ones, with a store table selling just Dragon exclusively (where I got the Pz IV); but a lot of used, too, with one fellow selling a ton he got in a huge estate sale of stuff buried in a barn (the Zis , and I believe the Krupp Protze, came from there).

Yeak Tommy, a lot of rare finds there...I did some Internet searches when I got home, on some of the stuff I saw and bought, and a lot of it was long out of print. I looked up all my purchases, and was surprised to see that what is still available, even from the secondary market, was radical...like my less-than $10 translated to $50 on the net! For several of them. Again, I spent more than I intended, but I saved a butt load of money, too, so what the heck!

Now I just have to convince my wife I haven't totally lost it by my upcoming purchase of a case or two of Axis & Allies Miniatures: Africa!

I believe Dragon does a nice Maus in 1/35. It's an oldie I think but quite good nonetheless.

Re: Who belongs to IPMS?

That Maus is such a big beast...I wonder how large 1/35 would put it?

Red face Re: Who belongs to IPMS?

Not really "into" E-Bay, so I look for friends for a helping hand most of the time. Dragon I've almost had many a times, but that fell through every single time as well...... (is there a "frustrated" smily yet here?)
