Re: WW2 Air Racers

My old test kit became one of my favourites...the test was a success. Despite some small inaccuracies it looks okay I think...if a little 'over done'.

The decals are a mixture of Academy (it's an Academy kit) rubbish and 'Eaglestrike' perfection. The stars are for a Yak 3 and should have black outlines rather than the white. The Academy decals literally fell off it over night. It was also politely pointed out to me at my club that this aircraft had fabric covered wings. Oops.

It's a nice idea! This is the fine thing with modellin' 'cos there's nothin' that really says how it should be done but what matters in the end is that the builder is happy with what he/she have accomplished n' is havin' a jolly good time 'bout it. That's what really matters. You're free to do whatever you prefer as long as yer happy with it.

Re: WW2 Air Racers

Y'know some of my favourite builds have been the really quick ones. Little 1/72 aircraft I've built for my son without much regard to finish since I know it will be in a thousand pieces after an hour. I had two years without an airbrush because of my accommodation circumstances and I brush painted maybe six little $5.00 Revell kits. Loved 'em. I don't have 'em anymore because I ended up giving them to friends when I moved interstate...but I remember them all.

Re: WW2 Air Racers

That's cool! If it isn't fun, why bother, indeed. Probably the danger of moving from hobby to business....would too much of the fun factor be lost? Nice looking plane, mate!
