Man's Search for Meaning
I'm wondering if anyone else here has read Viktor Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning? It ranks as one of the best books I've ever read. Frankl, a Jewish psychologist or psychiatrist, was a young professional when he was taken to Auschwitz. After surviving, he writes of his time in the death camp, telling of the many horrors - not only physical, but psychological as well - that he and other prisoners underwent. Frankl's insights are spectacular.
The book is essentially two parts: his telling of his ordeal at Auschwitz, and then his apparently novel psychology that he developed over time, including from his time at the camp. He also discusses his meeting with other former prison camp survivors who come to him for help, still suffering the emotional scars well after their liberation.
I highly recommend this book.
