Spot on mate...mono can be more difficult because there's less to keep the eyes busy. There are some great techniques one can use though to vary the mono colour's tones in places to suggest sun fading, rain/water marks and general filth. Harder to do if the base coat is brush painted though. Unless one uses a brush-friendly acrylic.
GREAT choice McCoy... hey are they Friulmodel tracks I see?!?! This lot and the stuff you're doing in the other build...what have you done mate? Robbed a bank or won the lottery??!

Haha, This kit includin' resin/PE update, a resin figure n' Friulmodel tracks have costed me 'bout 150 SEK as I've bought it as a package from a fellow builder who cleared out his stuff.

The Verlinden kits to the T-34 is bought rather cheap at Ebay n' the Aber kit from Hong Kong...

Wow urban, sweet deal...I have to make some friends like that around here! I'm planning on going to my first ever model show next Sunday.....hosted by a model club I just learned existed over the border in the next State over. This is an IPMS shop, I do believe! Next year, maybe I'll even enter something!!!

After 35 years of modelling on and off, I joined my club late last year and have found it to be a great way of comparing notes, learning new stuff and generally talking to like minded people about some of the more esoteric aspects of modelling. None of my 'flesh' friends are modellers. I asked at my local model shop if they knew of a club that had the right spirit. The kind of attitude to be found here in these threads. I haven't been disappointed. If they're of the right mind Whiterook, they could be good to join.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing G44...the club is 45 minutes to an hour away, but may be worth the travel time. I'm going to scope them out at the show next Sunday, as well as all the models, and then attend one of their meetings. The show is actually in this state, only a half hour away. I agree that it is usually beneficial to surround oneself with folks that can show you the ropes.

My club is about an hour or 90 minutes away but then almost everything is from here. Also, we only meet once a month.

Yeah, this club I mention is a monthly gig too, so a bit of travelling shouldn't be an issue. I used to teach percussion for Drum & Bugle Corps, and tour every weekend, and weeks/months at a time across the US and Canada, so travelling is not biggy for me.

Still haven't settled on which one to build quite yet. Tamiya Panther Ausf. A,
Tamiya Jagdpanzer IV 'Lange" or Italeri Stug. IV (Yet to arrive).

I'll let you know,
rb

I was looking at the club website I was talking to G44 about, and I saw it was affiliated with the Western Massachusetts Chapter of IPMS. Any other IPMS members out there?

razorboy, those are all neat choices...I can't wait to see which one you choose, though I'm partial to the Panther!
