I'd love to see the Blenheim. Interesting plane.

i'm going to have a go at the italeri staghound. i brought it the other day and i've not started it yet. it looks a lovely kit, and such a departure from their usual kits. it even has a metal gun barrel and a etch metal fret with it as well. it even has a walk around book included in the box as well. just think of the amount of kits i could build in this amount of time lol.

also, when i've finished that, i'm going to do a helicopter. i saw one in the model shop the other day and i needed a good excuse to buy it (i'm not an impulse buyer). there was a rather nice 1:35 huey cobra i liked the look of.

A Staghound. Excellent choice. Not something you see too often if at all. This build is going to have some really nice variety.

Welcome to the build! The Staghound have received a lot of praise, Italeri can put out great models if they want but most of their line isn't that great.

I've started on the Staghound. I've spent 4 hours on it and I've gone quite a long way. Here's a couple pictures

It's great to see Italeri at least trying to update their range with some good 'modern' kits. I saw one of their 1/48 aircraft range at the club I joined one night and it had research and reference material incuded with one of their more obscure Italian tri-motor aircraft. Their 'Sahariana' kit appeals to me somewhat...reminds me of Tamiya's SAS jeep and Pink Panther kits.

Re: Group Build 6 month- open class (9-1-08) $$PRIZE

it really is a lovely kit and is highly recommended. the 46 page booklet is amazing with close up pictures and drawings. even shows the interioir if someone decideds to make a resin interior for the kit. the kit goes together with no problems and the etch parts are really good. it may be more exensive than their other kits but with the booklet, the quality of the parts and the only version of this kit in plastic, they have made an excellent choice of the subject.

They do some of the more obscure stuff and they're to be commended for that if nothing else. As for cost, I buy so few kits that it doesn't really matter to me. Because I often build from my stash and I'm slow...it's a pretty cheap hobby. A sixty buck kit can keep me occupied most nights for three months.
I'm particularly interested in their range of tri-motors. An interesting configuration with the SM. 79 by Savioa-Marchetti being my fave. Colourful, challenging in terms of camo and graceful. Best torpedo bomber of the war they say.
