The Gold Coast is a long way from Darwin mate and bloody awful. It's a real tourist spot and it's well...full of tourists. The high rise hotels are almost right on the beach, but then I guess it depends what you're into. For me, the GC is a place to drive through on the way to other places...a long way from home for me mate. Been through there twice and to Darwin once. In Queensland (where GC is) try Cairns instead...beautiful place, lived there for a while. Still a bit touristy but less distance for some peace if you want it. Cool stuff to do and see. I dunno what your plans are but if you find yourself further south, let me know. Time's probably an issue for you and Oz is big. Stay cool mate. Peace, N.
