That is correct also before the Germans allied themselves with Japan there was a large portion of the Chinese army being trained by Germans also the Germans supplied them with many weapons and gear such as the stick grenades and the Helmets and Kar 98k they also supplied the Chinese with some Panzer I's and Flak 88's you can sometimes be lucky and catch a picture of Chinese troops using them.

Great thread Bill look forward to more pics.

Cool. I knew about the stick grenades and the helmets, but I did not know about the flak 88's and the panzer I's. Great info!

lol!!! Its funny, if ever there was a theatre where the Pz Is and IIs would actually have held their own, it would be in the pacific. Small, light, and small enough to get places the Japanese Tiger would never get to. Of course, no armour and no weapon worth the name would still do them in. I can't get over the helmets.

You should find this interesting then.

Here's Chiang Wei-kuo, son of Chinese president Chiang Kai-shek. In the 1930's the president sent Wei-kuo to Germany to attend the Munich Military Academy where he learned modern German military tactics and weaponry. He went on to specialized Alpine training and earned his Gebirgsjäger Edelweiss badge. During the 1938 Austrian Anschluss, Wei-kuo commanded a Panzer and took part in the "invasion" of Austria. He was promoted to Leutnant in a Panzer division and was being prepared to join in the invasion of Poland when he was recalled to China. In 1948 Major General Chiang Wei-kuo led a M4 Sherman tank battalion against the Chinese Communist forces of Mao Zedong.
