You guys are going to love this.

Ask anyone who searches for photos of armor and they will tell you half the work is sifting through hits that turn up models.

Last week during a discussion in Land Warfare of a Panther pic the possible existence of a Schwimmpanther came up. So I started searching. I tried one combination of words after another and between schwimm, Panther and tauch I got a hit.

I found myself, of course, on a model site. A German language model site and started to pick through the text with my now rusty native tongue.

It appeared that someone was starting a build on a 1:12 (?) scale scratch R/C Panther that, from what I was reading, would drive in and out of the water and cruise about.

I figured model or not, it had to have some basis in fact and as long as it pertained to the discussion it was worth pursuing.

The OP wrote about securing the electronics and motor in the "body", making the thing watertight and began to post photos of the progress on the wheels and chassis. It started to look promising.

I kept scrolling and kept reading until I arrived at a photo of the finished "schwimmpanther...

That's an extreme interpretation of 'ducking for cover'.

If he had said it was a freakin' duck in first 20 or so posts I could have saved my self the trouble. All he said was "The idea I said I was going to work on".
