Good evening folks!

From my "built 200 years ago and back with a vengeance" series, I bring you pics from my personal interpretation of the E-10.
This was built waaaaay before the internet came to exist in Brazil, back in the early 90's. I didn't have access to books on the theme either (all we could have at the time were Squadron Signal's In action booklets, and these were hard and expensive to get by mail order!)
What I had as a reference was a pictorial in a Military Modelling magazine about Crommwells resin kit. I was fascinated by that stealthy looking tank.
So I went home and designed what I could remember. Off course I didn't have the right wheels, my drawings were all out of proportion, but somehow using refurbished tank spares seemed a logic way to build tanks in 1946!
That's what it turned out:

I have never scratchbuilt anything up to now, but I imagine the satisfaction that's involved. Great work especially for the time it was made.

It might not be a "real" tank but hey I like it.

The E-10? you built does look genuine enough that you could fool some folks into believing it was an actual prototype that never saw production.
(Told with the right "story" of its history that is.)

One thing that I maybe want to explain is that your opinions are very important for me. I live in central Brazil, model building isn't exactly a very usual hobby around here. people who know my passion for the hobby usually laugh at it saying I collect toys...
The modelling clubs and societies I used to hang around in, were densely populated with bigmouths bragging about their knowlege, wisdom and technique and that once every decade brought a newly built 1/72 Revell airplane to show.
I got sick of it all some 10 years ago and decided to build my collection for myself instead of displaying my models on shows and contests, prefering to share the results with a very close friend who also actually BUILDS models.
The internet was a turning point for me. It made access to good reference a lot easier. But it also made the hobby more demanding. Digital photography can be cruel in that it enhances flaws on your build and paintjob but also provides a good reference tool if your model really looks good.
But the ultimate "measuring tool" are people like you. My wife usually loves every model I finish, telling me that it looks better than the previous one, so her opinion doesn't count (hehehehehe). But you guy's opinion is what counts when it comes down to see if the job was well done.
Therefore I am allways gratefull to the one or two written lines of reply I get from you guys.

You've really done a great job on this paper panzer. I'm not that fond of paper panzers myself but what I like the most with 'em is the fact that you're completely free when it comes to camouflage n' that the rivetcounters can't come n' rack down on it due to some detail. I personally don't see anything that differs from the Trumpeter kit as it's not a vehicle that I'm familiar with such as a Panther but I do recognize it as an E-10 anyway n' that means that you've succeeded with your build of a paper panzer. I love your camouflage painting on it as that turned out to be a real eye catcher.

My model actually is quite a bit bigger than the real E10... I didn't have drawings back then just a couple of magazine pictures from the model by Cromwell. So I had no apropriate scale references...My tank would have been more like a substitute for the Jagdpanzer IV.
But like some of you guys said, the real pleasure is you can go wild on the color schemes! No rules apply here (imo).

Don't pay attention. Modeling is purely a creative hobby. A person who laughs at modeling lacks creativity.It's just so much easier for them to turn on the Nintendo and have a laugh than to spend hours on top of a piece of plastic. Don't even bother. What I do, is that I reveal my passion for modeling only to openminded people.

Don't bother about that either. Trying to satisfy other people takes away the personal fun. In the first place we model for our personal satisfaction. Indeed internet is a very useful tool.

I feel the same way too. My wife always likes my models but I ask for her opinion every time and she proposes stuff that make my models look better. Since I dont meet other modelers she was my only judge before I started posting on the internet or showing up in contests.
I too like every post I read and I try to comment every model that gets uploaded because it means hours and hours of work and I can appreciate this. So keep on modeling and maybe one day we get the chance to meet and discuss everything face to face. Cheers.

I agree fully on what you've just written mate! Personally I tend to put down 50 to maybe 120 hours on one model when I do build so it's a lot of work n' comments is allways nice to get as well as constructive critique. But I do build for pleasure as that's the way to go in my mind.

Very nice model....I like it very much. And I agree with wheat you write, as well....modelling should be for you and not for others specifically. Keep modelling!

Awesome mate, the camo scheme looks fantastic. I'm not very familiar with armour in general let alone the Paper Panzers, but I've seen this one before. It's good to know that you feel good about posting your work here. It's great to look at and is an inspiration for the rest of us too.

The internet has been great for me too as far as modelling goes. There are certainly insecure types who feel the need to be 'expert' in some area or another and to loudly voice their opinions but who cares about them? Clearly, they've crossed a line. I wonder why they model anyway. For me, accuracy is of secondary importance...modelling is an art and I think that some licence is called for.
