I'm currently reading Armored Thunderbolt by Steven Zaloga. This a book about the develoopment and combat use of US armor in WWII, mainly focused on the Sherman but has a lot of info on further developments such as the M24 Chaffee M26 Pershing and some British models such as the Firefly. Very intersting if your interested in this subject. I've learned quite a few new things, even though I've been studying WWII armor for over 30 years.
Recent reads:
Invasion - They're Coming by Paul Carroll. A rather old book from 1963 about the Normandy Campaign from the German view. Has some older theories that have been since debunked bottill a good read as it incorporatesmany first-hand accounts and some fictional drmatization. - ths is a book that I found free on the internbet in PDF format.
Last Victory in Russia: The SS-Panzer Korps and Manstein's Karkhoz Counteroffensive by George Nipe. The title explains it. A well detailed day-by-day account starting around the failed attempt to relieve Stalingrad to the re-capture of Karkhov after it was lost to the Soviets. Nice maps help you follow the action.
Panzer Commander by Hans von Luck. Great first-hand account of a well decorated panzer commander--Highly Recommended.
Books on my 'To Do' list:
Iron Hulls, Iron Hearts: Mussolini's Elite Armoured Division in North Africa by Ian W. Walker - not much written on this subject
Panzer Aces III by Franz Kurowski - collection of first-hand accounts of Panzer crewmen awarded the Iron Cross (or higher) - there's two previous volumes that are terfific.
Elite Panzer Strike Force: Germany's Panzer Lehr Division in WWII by Franz Kurowski
Panzers in the Sand Vol 1 & 2 by Bernd Hartmann
Tigers in Normandy by Wolfgang Schneider
Hold the Westwall: The History of Panzer Brigade 105, September 1944 by Timm Hassler
Combat History of the 23rd Panzer Division in WWII by Ernst Rebentisch
Knights Cross Panzers: The German 35th Panzer Regiment in WWII by Hans Schauffler
I have tons more to read too. Since I got an i-pad, I read on it e-books from Kindle, Amazon and even many free books that I've found around the internet. The books that I buy are much laess expensive than the hardback versions, usually less than a third on the cover prices. I;ve also discovered a chain of bookstores called Half Price Books and they carry many of the newer Stackpole military books of tha paperback type and are generally less than $8-$10 (US).
Anyway, hope this list is of some help,
Cory

I just finished with Hitler's Renegades. It's about the foreign volunteers in the Wehrmacht and the Waffen-SS. The pictures are terrific, especially the shots of the British Free Corps men.I'm curious, what book are you currently reading, or what book have you read most recently?
It should be helpful to pick another subject.
Just a thought, maybe you might like the WWII books I've written. I have three novels published about the war, and have chapters from them in the book section of these forums. Thanks.

That is an interesting subject. I've never heard of that book. I looked it up on Amazon, only $6.95, good bargain too.
