After the purge of the SA in July of 1934, what became the role SA? I know that Viktor Lutze was appointed to Chief of Staff of the SA but where to from there? What became of the Approx. 2.5 million men that were in the ranks?

I believe that they had little "official" role though they existed until the end of the war. I recall that they did participate in Kristallnacht.
