A film in the works by my units very own young director/writer: Brett Hodgson. So show a little support, I'll see if I can make it up to help him shoot this thing, either with my gear, my person, or other ways.

Looks interestting, his first stat in the trailer is wrong though. the average age of a WW2 soldier was in the mid twenties, his stats sound like the ones for Viet Nam.

Is he telling a story from both sides US and German?

Yeah and you aren't the first to point that out. He's stated that its the late war draft age, and I should say you should be objective about this... The kid is still in high school and he's damn lucky to be a re-enactor and have access to a resource of equipment and extras/actors.

I've seen his first draft and yes, its written from two points of view during an engagement in Italy, but I can't say if its changed since what I saw.

Oh well sliver me timbers, slack cut, didn't know that, HS eh!! Must say even if I was a buff then and I was, yeah my grasp on little stuff was weak.

I well give kudos for the duel POV I think more war movies need to have some balance like this so people understand that war is really hell and for the soldiers fighting it a real horror show, no matter the side.

Will do. We're trying to find a shoot date in April that will work. The first weekend he had coincided with a CHG re-enactment and a lot of guys were going to be out of town. Now he's trying to find a better one, I don't think our unit is the only group of extras/actors, I think he has friends that are involved as well and trying to get us all together seems to be the hard part.

But the Sgt in the beginning is good ol' Fernie one of our squad leaders and Rifle Grenade Expert (took out 20 people last re-enactment I heard)...

They filmed a chunk a few weeks ago.

A scene with a Major at a command post will be filmed soon. But they do not have all the footage they need and are going to shoot another day of filming... HOpefully I can be there this time..

I've gotten to see a "First Final" (Who knows what to call it) of my friend's movie. Short 20-somethin minute affair. I think given with what he had to work with its great. Very good story fit in that small amount of time. Limited dialogue and I hate to tell some of my buddies but they kinda came off forced in their lines but thats fine, we're not professionals.

He does have one large fight scene that turns into melee, which I think was well choreographed and well shot.

But he says that the copies we have and saw are kinda the final, he wants to adjust a few things and work it from there. Sadly I think a lot of his script got dropped for time and such... and he added things from the version I'd seen.

He says his next project will be a PTO movie, much longer, probably an hour in length is his goal. I said if he can give me a primary or secondary role as a Sergeant I'd be happy. He said he'd let me know when he gets a script hacked out.

Sounds cool, will we get to see any of it?

I don't know. They are making proceeds for something I believe. (He told us something interesting that explained an oddity in a few of a scenes. A man sitting in the background watching the fight scenes as in "Someone is always watching, even when you are killing." This is a bit of a project for a Church Group but well done nonetheless.) Therefore we wondered if he were going to Youtube it. They said between the size of the movie (over the 10 minute limit, so they'd have to split it) and the fact that they are trying to do this for a charitable cause, they won't YT it just yet.

I'll keep tabs on when he does or they actually release a finalized version.
