The Return of Sgt. Rock

My name is Billy Tucci and I'm a comic book writer/illustrator who's bringing Sgt. Rock for a six issue miniseries for DC Comics. Aside from two Vertigo series (both illustrated by my idol Joe Kubert) this will be the first mainstream Rock in more than twenty years. As a former paratrooper myself and WW2 "fanatic" myself, I want to portray the men and machines as accurate as possible. The story arc is titled "Sgt. Rock - The Lost Battalion" and it will take Rock and Easy company from the beaches of Normandy (where they'll be attached to the 16th Infantrty during the initial assault on Easy Red sector) to the Vosges forest in October 1944. Since Rock and Easy seem to be constantly serving as replacements, they'll be attached to the 141st In (36th ID) and trapped with the 1st battalion during the debacle of Operation Dogface. Here Rock will join 274 other "T-Patchers" of the Alamo Regiment in the defense of their small perimeter in the Foret Du Champ against 6,000 Germans as the Japanese American soldiers of the 442nd RCT try to break through to them. I've done extensive research on the "Lost Battalion" and the 442nd and have been in contact with several veterans and their families. I've traveled to Normandy this past November and the Vosges a few weeks ago. My goal for this project is to produce the most accurate (though entertaining) graphic novel of the war and do honor to those who served and sacrificed so much.
I've gotten some great help already from the forum as since I'm done writing all six scripts I'll be asking tons of questions for the visual aspects. I'll follow up the post with the cover designs and then some pages. If anyone wants to help me, please do as it will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you and all the best,
Billy

I'll also pass this one to my Re-enacting unit, we do the 34th ID as well as the 442nd for the Asian members. And I know a bunch of them are old Sergeant Rock fans.
THANKS A LOT FOR SHARING!

Thanks Gi-rene!
I'll definitely check out your thread. I've been working with a bunch of reenactors and attended FIG as a WarCo for the 3ID. It was a blast. I actually went out as a German correspondent on Friday. I took about 900 photos. If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to see some photos of your impressions to use for the book. I'm going all out with the research. The issues will not be numbered traditionally, but rather by Day. The last image is an interior from (pages 2-3) the first issue -- Day One -- Fire.
Thanks for all your great comments guys, you really made my day.

Thats me as a GrossDeutschland Solder at Big Bear re-enacting a battle in the Caucasus sometime in 42-43... We do GD for East Front battles. I guess some of the guys like fighting Russians enough to put time and effort into German impressions.
I was the "Der Weinachtsmann" because of the pine brush stuck in my helmet band... I thought it was a funny name.

More of all kinds drifting about in those albums
