How about a site where everyone can display any models, figures, structures, etc. from time periods outside of the WW2 era. I know some of the guys have some WWI, Korean War, Modern Warfare and Sci-Fi stuff that they are rightfully proud of. I myself have some American Civil War Figures in the works. Perhaps as a stickey attached to the Modelling Forum? I don't know how it would work best.

Just a thought,

I'd like to see all of that also. People should be proud of their work and of their collections.

The only question I have, like you, is where to put it all.

One idea is to allow medals from other eras in the Medal Forum. I believe there already are some.

We could do the same with models and so on.

If people object to the loss of "purity", and I surely can understand that, then I can simply make subforums in each of those areas.

I'm open to either of those, and to other suggestions as well.

What do you all think?

Not a bad idea! I'd prefer it as a subforum to the modellin' section.

I agree on the sub forum as a start. We can always expand as the need grows.

Hey were you the guy who built the ironclads or am I thinking of somebody else?

Don't forget Warhammer. There seems to be a big interest in it out there.

A sub forum would be the best for this. There are so many other models out there and maybe more techniques to go with them.

Clearly there is enough demand for a modeling subforum. I'll create that in a few.

What about items from other eras? Should non-military stuff go in Kilroy's Place? What about non-World War II medals, etc?

BTW, razorboy has graciously agreed to take on the moderation duties in the new subforum.

Good questions. Let's have a consensus from the members.

I'm kinda late to this party, but I agree with the subforum idea in the Modeling Forum. In there, we can also have Warhammer, miniatures painting, etc. Yeah, I'd love to see "other stuff" too.

I don't see anything wrong with it. Even a die-hard WWII modeler will stray into other areas now and again!

Sounds like we have a go! This is exciting!!! I know we have strayed out of WWII in the build competitions (I know I have), so it makes perfect sense to have a sub-forum for regular (non-build) threads that cover periods other than WWII.

I know I should have checked before starting this, but what forum covers minor combatants in WWII? I am particularly interested in the Canadian Army...a subject I know relatively nothing about, which I am hugely embarassed to admit, considering my Dad served in the Canadian Army in WWII.
