My new "nieces"

My brother's bitch Stella gave birth to these two little female puppies four days ago. I call them red and blue. Does anyone recognize the breed?

This one is from shortly after birth. They have increased in weight by 50% since then. The bit of mom in the photo may give you a hint at the breed. Note also that the tails will have been docked after birth, but are their normal length here.

It is a rare breed so I'll give a hint if anyone asks.

No, not any of the spaniels, but they are in the "sporting" dogs group along with spaniels.

Re: My new "nieces"

Not either of those, but it is a European breed if that helps.

Re: My new "nieces"

I want to say Bulgarian Legriders, but they have a more pronounced hump.

OK, I give up.

Very cute pups!

Re: My new "nieces"

One last hint. They are natives of an Axis nation.
