Re: Hurtin Times!

Things are pretty good for me, but I work in resort areas where there is a worker shortage and work is plentiful. I average 50 hours/week in the winter and 100+ hours/week in the summer. That leaves me 3-4 months a year vacation time. I would have alot more money if I wasn't holding on to my house in Houston, but that's my nest egg and I hold on tight! Also, a real economic downturn and both my jobs could be a memory - security is a relative term.

Sorry to hear that things are tight for some of you guys! I hope it gets better!

business. They had been arround forever, but were starting to hurt just

You should see the prices in Melbourne mate. I was talking to a woman just back from six years in the UK. She says prices here are comparable to London at the moment. We're lucky that we own our place...otherwise we'd be struggling. A friend walked past a group of maybe forty people in the city a few weeks ago...they were congregated in front of a house. He asked what was going on and they said they were there to try to rent the house. People are bidding for rentals...it's illegal but it's happening. But then Melbourne's population is growing too fast for the housing and infrastructure to cope with. I've never seen anything like it and I'm grateful not to live in the suburbs anymore.

Re: Hurtin Times!

Just dropped in here to let you all know......the plant is at a major juncture. It is all in the air now if we are gonna survive the next few years.....That's why I aint been around here lately, had some major issues to deal with, and some major worries.
The next year is going to be real critical if we are going to continue to be a viable company. I have heard rumors running the entire gamut...bad to good, but mostly bad.
We have another downsizing coming up....involving at least 300 people or so. I am of high enough seniority, that it doesn't affect me, but ANY downsizing is not a good thing at this point!
On the other hand...we have 2 very popular models,(built ELSEWHERE by Mitsubishi) in house now for testing to see if it is Possible for us to manufacture these models (I am not at liberty to say what 2 we are looking at as of this time) Hopefully, we will get at least ONE of these models and alleviate the pressure on the plant. We can only hope, or my OTHER choice is to go back to sea with the merchant Marine or the Navy Auxillery.
We shall see......

Re: Hurtin Times!

Keep a stiff upper lip there PM, i'd say it in navy jargon, but can't think of
how they would say it?

The company i work for has alot of flaws, if i had run my Photog bus like
they do i would of been tared and feathered by now.

Yeah nothing like telling a customer you have a product here on location
ready to be picked up when ever they want it. Only to find out after they
drive all the way over here we don't have it??? what the blankty blank is
that crap?, yeah i'm still po'd about it, it happend yesterday to me.
