Well, that was what I was leaning at. Good for going in on the attack, a long march, or listening while playing a game of cards in the tent.
NOT good when you have a 7yr olds birthday party though HAHA

I am into the classics but the way the industry is.....I listen to a local radio station which is nothing but classics.....I guess I should say they were nothing but classics. Now all the new stuff by older rockers are on there. Bruce Springsteins "Radio Nowhere", Ozzy and his new one....when I asked why....it was to get the younger listeners. I couldn't argue as a radio station is only as good as how many listeners they get.

Brittany Spears does have some good songs but she has to get her act together.
Amy Winehouse has that "oldies" voice that is making her popular but also has to get her act together.

Rant rant rant rant and not too many raves.

Britney needs to get off the meth. I feel for her...she's never had a 'normal' life. Sure she's rich beyong my wildest dreams but what good is it doing her?
Amy Winehouse is the same in some ways...it's more about 'being a celebrity' than 'the music' these days. In contrast, the members of Pink Floyd can happily walk down the street and hardly be recognized.

Re: New Music for Old Ears

Well for me, i'm still lucky the ole farts are still rocking, otherwise i'd be
hurting for new music. I don't mind "Five for fighting" tho.

But here's the guys who keep putting out new stuff that i recently bought.

Tom Petty
Ringo Star
Midnight Oil
Paul McCartney
Roger Hodgson
3 dog night
Nazareth
U2
Rolling Stones

Re: New Music for Old Ears

You like the 'Oils' LT? I used to go and see them in concert for $8 back in the day. They stood for something then. Peter Garret is the Minister for the Environment in the Fed. Government these days. Seems to me he's mellowed a little and has okayed at least two projects that are hurting the environment including the dredging of the huge bay Melbourne is built around. I learned how to drink, smoke and a couple of other things unmentionable here while listening to their early stuff in the early-mid 1980s. When they got popular after their fourth album, they changed.

I find myself listening to Seger in two modes:

One, just for the music. Katmandu and Old Time Rock n Roll are just tasty.

Two, to get lost in the man's lyrics. Like a Rock, Against the Wind and Hollywood Nights are great. Turn the Page is an anthem for anyone who has ever played in a band.

Re: New Music for Old Ears

The Ring is another great word song, and who today can't relate to Feels Like Number?
