Re: The longest thread ever

Did you know that that the guitarsolo from Comfortably numb got voted as the best solo ever a few years ago?

Re: The longest thread ever

Yes I did but I disagree strongly. The solo in 'Another Brick In The Wall Part 2' is much better in my opinion. (Highly subjective I know).
Anyway...which Comfortably Numb solo won it...the first or the second. I like the second...it's darker than the first.

Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone home?
Come on
Now
I hear you're feeling down.
I can ease your pain, get you on your feet again.
Relax
I need some information first.
Just the basic facts
Can you show me where it hurts?'

Re: The longest thread ever

I think it was the second one, the one that almost only Gilmour is able to play without help. Have you noticed that Waters allways have two guitarplayers for that solo on his solotours?

Not bad, but there are better IMHO. Stevie Ray Vaughn's Little Wing, for one.
Guitar World's Top 100 solos

Re: The longest thread ever

I saw Roger Waters solo tour last year and it was one of the best gigs I've ever seen (and I've seen plenty). The guitarist he used was awful. He had the rock star costume down pat, but the music...
SRV is sadly missed and an exceptional musician, but Little Wing by him or Hendrix is wasted on me...I don't share the rapture. I prefer SRVs 'Lenny' by a long way.

Re: The longest thread ever

It is truly amazing the sounds Stevie got from that old beat up axe of his! He tuned those strings so low, it was truly astounding that the darned thing was playable at all. Seriously...the blisters must have been hell!

Youre never gonna die, youre gonna make it if you try;theyre gonna love you.
Well Ive always had a deep respect, and I mean that most sincerely.
The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think. oh by the way,
Which ones pink?
And did we tell you the name of the game, boy, we call it riding the
Gravy train.

Were just knocked out. we heard about the sell out. you gotta get an
Album out,
You owe it to the people. were so happy we can hardly count.
Everybody else is just green, have you seen the chart?
Its a helluva start, it could be made into a monster if we all pull together
As a team.
And did we tell you the name of the game, boy, we call it riding the
Gravy train.

Re: The longest thread ever

After a while, the blisters turn into callouses. I used to be able to butt a cigarette out on my finger tips...a stupid idea regardless that much to my irritation, didn't impress anybody. (I was young and thought I was pretty 'rock 'n' roll'...I wasn't).

McCoy, I thought of you last night when I went out. On the drive home I listened to that album in the car.
'Welcome my son. Welcome to the machine'.
I guess you know 'Have A Cigar' was sung by Roy Harper?

I thought of him last night as well. While I was gulping Nyquil and turning in early.

You gave me your cold Urban!!!
