Mauser Shoot 10 May 08

This Morning Bob, (rlkillion here on the site) his son Cody, and I went to the local Mauser shoot. I remembered to take a camera and got this shots to share with all the gun enthusiasts here. I shot miserably ( a 103 with the Nagant, and a 124 with the Mauser) And I will let Bob add in his scores on his impending post.... It was a fun event and lot of old war relics were out on tables to ogle over (and Drool!) And Next time Bob, we get some better 8mm ammo!

Enjoy!

Fred (I think his name was) firing his Mauser? (Feel free to correct Bob....)

Bob and his trusty 98k

Cody and his Israeli 98k

Fred again

Bob takin careful aim.....nice shooting!!!

And when it's all over.....An Ice cold Grolsch and Sankt Pauli girl beer! What goes better with German weapons, than German Beer?

And we followed it up with a trip to Bailey's and some good food...

Yeah that is Fred. Active Air National guard and a good guy. Actually it is a good group of guys all the way around.
I will certianly be cursing that ammo until it is all gone...however while today my scores were only in the 160's and 170's(not good enough to knock any low scores off) the box I shot last month was good stuff and I was in the 180's for all 4 rounds and shot my personal best of 185 4x. I can't wait to see what K98 will do with some good ammo! Course maybe I will drag out the Finnish M39 Mosin next time and see what I can do rather than fight with that crappy Canadian surplus...anyone know why Canada was manufacturing 8mm Mauser military ammunition?
Yeah some of those were WAY hot. Cody got blasted while he was taking pictures. He was standing between us taking the picture of you and we both lit off one of the REAL HOT ones at the same time. He got smacked by the concusion from both sides!

Great pics Chuck! Decided to join the forums after Dad showed me the pictures. I suppose I can forgive you for hitting my target. I'm actually just happy to finally have my Israeli sighted in and to find that its actually a fairly accurate weapon. Now I just need to get a new front sight post for it and burn a few more rounds and I'll be giving dad a run for his money on the score charts.
