Anyone have some good tips about San Fran?

I am heading off to San Francisco for a few days tomorrow and haven't been since 6th grade. Its very exciting. Does anyone have any 'off the beaten path' tips?

I've not been there in over 20 years. I couldn't tell you!

I know I enjoyed Fisherman's Wharf, but that's rather cliche. There was an old sailing ship there was was nice.

You can't beat the Alcatraz tour, seriously...it's very interesting, and you get a cruise on the Bay to boot. What's better than that for the price?

You have GOT GOT GOT to eat a burger at Mel's!

Go to the Presidio...I was detailed there, and the view of the Golden Gate bridge from the golf couse is amazing...you don't have to be on the course, as the main road through the old post has a spot where you can sit at a stone bench overlooking one of the holes, and watch the ships come in. Gorgeous!

Giradelli square at Fisherman's wharf is a must.

Just about any restaurant!!!

The Golden Gate Park

The painted ladies (houses, not hookers!)
