Re: when did you start collecting, reading , having an interest... etc.?
I took an interest in WW2 (especially Wehrmacht) because of my Grandfather. He didn't (and still doesn't) talk much about it. But it seems it was enough to get me interested.

Re: when did you start collecting, reading , having an interest... etc.?
I'm not sure how it started, but I've been interested since probably around the time I was 10 or 11. I'm 46 now...
I have to say that it's only within the past ten years or so, thanks to Lt.Col. Kit Bonn (+) that I've gotten better at studying, rather than just reading. Thanks to forums like this, I'm getting better. Would that this knowledge had been implanted years ago! I could have gone in the Army and gotten stationed in Germany, way back in 1979! I would be relatively fluent in German, would have been able to visit most of the major battlefields, met more veterans, aw, hell.... Never mind... Say, do you need any good books? wink, wink, nudge, nudge... Seen any of these titles: Aberjona Press: Our Books ? I hear their maps are outstanding!!! Welcome to the board. I think you'll enjoy it! |

Re: when did you start collecting, reading , having an interest... etc.?
i'm always in need of good books. especially since i moved. it's rains a lot here so i like to catch up on some reading when i don't feel like getting wet. i'll check the site. who doesn't love outstanding maps!
my grandfather was also the person that got me into history. i'm not sure of what he did during the war but i know he was stationed in germany for a while. he would speak german and talk about planes on our phone conversations. i was very young, but the minute i enrolled at a junior high school with a german class i took it. there were only three other kids in the class. i had a great time. after i left that one school, i was stuck in school systems that only offered spanish and french. i went year putting my intrest on the back burner. now i'm back. |
