Re: The Joy of a Root Canal!
I've visited my dentist last friday n' fixed to old fillings but the only pain I felt was a little on the smaller filling that I opted to not numb with the NEEDLE, but the big pain came when it was done when I had to separate myself from nearly 2000 SEK (not as expensive as a root canal I know but still expensive for the work really done).

Re: The Joy of a Root Canal!
Ouch! Yeah, dentist bills are expensive the world open. My dental plan doesn't cover root canals. Go figure. You pay out all that money, and you ain't covered for squat! Glad the tooth is better, buddy!

Re: The Joy of a Root Canal!
So much for the Swedish welfare state, eh Urban? No sarcasm meant. I would have thought that dental care was one of those things that was "covered".
I didn't have dental insurance until about one and a half years ago when I got it through my wife's employer. Despite that I always took care of my teeth. This last year I had a 15 year old crown replaced which was a product of a root canal in 1975. My parents paid for the original procedure as I was in high school. The crown last year was covered about 50% and was still about $600 for me if I recall correctly. Another thing they have big limits on is orthodontics. My daughter has braces. They have a maximum lifetime payout of $1000 and it costs around $3500.

Re: The Joy of a Root Canal!
Yeah, my wife and I are both Feds, work at the same place, and the Blue Cross plan stinks big time. This past year or so, they came up with a supplement to add better dental and vision to your plan, but you can't sign up for it but once a year, during what they call "Open Season"...sounds like a hunting program! I'm looking into now!

Re: The Joy of a Root Canal!
Yeag, good point krieg....I'd have paind whatever for the relief of the tooth ache. This sucker was just a little sore back in February when I had a cleaning and X-Rays; but the past couple weeks have been near agony! When my dentist saw the X-Ray he took last Friday, he compared it to the one from February, and he could really see the difference. He referred me to the Orthodontis, and yesterday was the soonest I could see anyone. I'm glad to have it done!
