Re: Yo, Americans...

Heee heeee...I think the majority here would vote the "other planet". Raining ctas and dogs here, so no fireworks tonight, for many area towns. Supposed to ease up at 11 PM, so at least we'll probably see some fireflies!

Re: Yo, Americans...

Happy Independence Day!

We're all immigrants in America (even my Blackfoot and Cherokee parts came over from Siberia).

Our families came here for a new start and were given the opportunity to build a life here.

We thank you for that.

Re: Yo, Americans...

Tomorrow kicks off 5 double shifts in a row for me, but I am still looking forward to it. People will generally be in a good mood and that makes for a fun day. Though some of them will get grumpy when I drop them off a half mile from town. None of the cabs go near the zoo between the parade at 4:00p and the fireworks just after sunset. There were no parades growing up and that's kind of fun to see.

Re: Yo, Americans...

Do they have a Fourth of July in England?
No, the calendar skips from the Third to the Fifth!

Happy Birthday, fellow Citizens! While the politics may have started in the South, remember that a bunch of belligerent Yankees got the violence started with a Tea Party!!

It's good that we remember the true significance of today, rather than just another excuse to drink beer, grill meat, and not go to work.

But, if we do remember can we still drink beer, grill meat and not go to work?

I hate to break up what is my normal routine.

Re: Yo, Americans...

And don't forget to grill your vegitables!

Hey, Heather got me to thinking....parades are cool! Been awhile since I've been to one, but fortunately, the town I grew up in had great parades! Especially on the 4th. Plus, my brother was in Boy Scouts and then Drum & Bugle Corps, of which I followed suit (he is 10 years older than me). But back to parades, I always thought it was so cool to see the veterans marching in the parades....it was a big thing for them, and us. Seems, the veterans contingent is smaller and smaller in parades these days, which is a shame; it was a nice way to remind us of the important contributions our fighting men and women made is securing our rights to freedom, which as Tom so aptly described, ain't free.

Happy 4th, America!

Well, we can organize a virtual parade. Heather has a baton and I hear Slug plays a mean tuba.
