Yo, Americans...

I just wanted to take a moment to wish you all, and myself, and happy Fourth of July.

I'm German born and German proud (in case no one noticed) but I am also an American citizen.

My family and I came here for a new start and were given the opportunity to build a life here.

I thank you for that.

Enjoy the fireworks, the parades and the BBQs. But take a moment at some point to remember just how important that first step of "Spirit of '76" was for all of us.

Hey. This post makes a good "Fill in the Blanks" Paul.

I'm Vietnamese born and Vietnamese proud (in case no one noticed) but I am also an American citizen.

My Mother and I came here for a new start and were given the opportunity to build a life here.

I thank you for that.

Happy Independence Day to all the Zoners! If it's legal where you live, not legal here, light off some fireworks for me!

Re: Yo, Americans...

My mom and dad, brother and sister were all born in Canada; I on the other hand was born here in the United States, though some have claimed I am from another planet (I'll let you all decide what is true).

We thusly spent every Summer going up to Canada for my mom and dad's vacation...thankfully, usually staying in a cottage on the ocean as a base of operations. It was a lot of fun, but almost ALWAYS fell on the Fourth of July holiday...ironic. The big thing I remember from all those trips on those hot summers was, when we crossed the border coming back home, the sight of Old Glory struck me with pride every single time.....it was so good to see her waving proudly to me and my family. I dearly love this country that many of us call home, and thank all those that made it possible to live free and proud in this great land. To me, it's the best possible place to be...at least until the Mothership finds me

Re: Yo, Americans...

Was in Kings Bay, Georgia just prior to July 4th in 2001. Even though in uniform, was made to feel very welcome. The RN were insistant that I return home on the 3rd, but managed to take leave for a few days more. Whilst there was included just as much as anyone else which was good not to mention excellent fun.

Well put, Emery!

But still, my vote is for "other planet".
