Re: Does size matter to you?
Too many televisions that are too big. We have five of them and only three people in the house.
There are two big ones, the flat screen in the family room and the other flat screen rear projection unit in what people here call the "FROG" (finished room over garage). We have one in our bedroom, our daughter has one in hers, and there's one in the guest bedroom (heaven forbid my inlaws not have one in their room when they visit!). All except the one in the FROG are connected to sattelite. I just havent gotten around to pulling the cable for it but it's on the "honey-do" list.

Re: Does size matter to you?
I've got one Sony 29" CRT (4:3). I'll replace it with a 37" Lcd in one to two years or so...

Re: Does size matter to you?
Love the FROG room! Great!!!
My wife and I owned 20" televisions ever since we got married in 1984. We've not found that damned tree that money grows on, as of yet, so we've stayed somewhat frugal. We always had just the one TV until about 5 years ago when my Mom-in-Law jettisoned a 13" color TV set she didn't want anymore, and had seen better days; thereby making the huge leap to 2 house TV's (a big step), of which the small one went in the guest room. I got an award check at work about 3 years ago, and on a whim, I bought a 20" TOSHIBA Flat Screen TV (not LCD or HDEF), as a replacement for the older 20" TV.....which I thought was about to bite the dust, but is still hanging in there! That made 3, and we're out of control! It's in our library/music room, and is the safe haven for my wife on Sci-Fi Fridays (the poor thing doesn't like Stargate or Battlestar Galactica...can you imagine that? Loonacy...but don't tell her I said that). In April of last year, we took the plunge and bought our first ever HDEF set...a 40" LCD SAMSUNG widescreen...Oh My God what a nice TV! Why didn't we do it earlier (OK, money! ...didn't have the clams). It's in our Living Room, and the old 20" TV that it replaced went down in the Game Room, and is now hooked up to my Playstation2. 4 TV's.....wow! Movie night is literally like being at the movies for us.

Re: Does size matter to you?
My LCD is a 46 inch Samsung 4665F. I remember when everything Samsung made was garbage but that's no longer the case. When I looked at LCD's the blacks were deeper on the Samsung than they were on the Sony, but the Sony was a bit more money. Time will tell about reliability. And with 12,000:1 contrast ratio you get a nice visual experience. The other nice thing is that I have since acquired a Samsung Blu-ray disc player. The two communicate with each other though Anynet+ (HDMI CEC). The disc player adjusts the television's settings automatically when it plays a disc, and switches the television's input when it's powered down. I imagine Sony has similar technology but I didn't explore it at the time as I wasn't buying a disc player at the time.

I beleave mine is a 46 inch flat screen Toshiba with all the trimmings from a couple years ago, then a small "regular" tv for console games next to my recliner.
Cheers, sometimes I'm here posting away, a game on the main tv, then another on the small one, then sometimes a handheld game as well......... LOL, Ya, I like my games don't ya know...... ![]() ![]() Tom LOL |

Re: Does size matter to you?
I believe that until very recently Sony used Samsung LCD's in their HD Bravia TVs. I have a 40 inch Samsung and l find it very very good. Friends have both Sony and Phillips 1080p LCD tv's but I think my Samsung is at least as good and best of all cheaper than theirs. Now all I need now are some decent programmesto watch on it
