Come to think of it, I think it was offered as a decal for a 1/35 kit as well.
Indeed it was. Tamiya I think.

It may sound like a dumb question, but I for one don't know what it is and no response so far.
I'm pretty certain that this emblem is the coat of arms of the city of Vienna and was used by the 2nd Panzer Div. This was one of several markings used.
This is what I found for the coat of arms of Vienna, which is a single headed eagle:

The double headed eagle as seen here was the symbol of Austria-Hungary from 1867 until its dissolution following World War I.

Of course there is a crown on these, but I am guessing that the emblem was a field applied makeshift coat of arms of the old Austro-Hungarian Empire, though the shield in the center is more like that of the city of Vienna.

My references state that the badge is the Viennese coat of arms and was one of the 2nd Panzer Div. It shows colour profiles (not photos) of a Pz. III Ausf. M, Ausf. N and a Pz. IV Ausf. H wearing it. All are camouflaged in dunkelgelb and green only.
What say you LAH, is my book the worthless rag I begin to suspect it is?

Re: Scrap Metal-Photo Album of Destroyed Armor

That's cool LAH, I'm perfectly able to say my book is a load of proverbial...it may well be. Just so you know mate, tanks are awesome, but they're not my forte at all. I can tell the difference between a Panzer III and a Panzer IV but my knowledge is pretty basic. Still, I'm interested and am always ready to learn about the stuff I build models of...whatever that may be. BTW, thanks for the info in the PM mate and BTW again, I found nothing of interest in the model shop today that was within my price range. More on that elsewhere.
Peace.

I think the chances of that might be slim. But I do come across one I'll be sure to post it and link to this discussion.
