Re: Scrap Metal-Photo Album of Destroyed Armor
The thing that strikes me as remarkable in many of these pictures is that the metal plates crack and shatter rather than bending. They seem to be far more 'brittle' than I gave credit for.

Re: Scrap Metal-Photo Album of Destroyed Armor
I'm thinking it came up on the sloop to the left at such an angle it tipped, but rolled so quick that the right hand top of the turret hit the ground and held it in place until underside came all the way up and it rested on its roof.
There is also the slim chance the gun was elevated and helped hold it in place until it was wrong side up. Either way, if the crew got out it was not through the commanders hatch.

You don't think that they dug their way out then?

Can't tell if the rear hatch is open or not, but with all the petrol pouring out into that steel box, if I had to dig I would and fast!

Want to talk strange...
![]() A Tiger I E in North Africa where an internal explosion lifted up the turret, flipped it upside down and dropped it back onto the vehicle.

They say that this is a Panther but I'm not certain...I'm sure many here will be able to identify it.
