The reason for this addendum is an odd one. I found two different photos of Jagdpanthers from two different sources. One caption claimed the vehicle was damaged and abandoned, the other that it was in service.


Turns out to be the same vehicle photographed from different angles.

I don't think that it's knocked out. My guess is that it's been abandoned due to engine failure or fuel shortage. The hull's undamaged n' the hatches is closed but all the external equipment on it is gone includin' the bow MG34.

It looks like there's a small section of track missing at the rear in the first photo, or that could be just a glitch in the photo itself.

I also spotted ordinance on the ground in the second photo, which does suggest it was abandoned.

Looks like this was a recovery unit out gathering wrecks. Great photo.

A former Marder III Ausf M with a 75mm Pak 40/3 L/46 anti-tank gun. This one belonged to the 352nd Infanterie-Division in France, July 1944.
