hehehehe another beautiful example of a mid production tiger 1 belonging to ssSSpzabt 101 LAH during normandy. the vehicle number is 133 in red and white numbers the camouflage is the base yellow with green and red brown over the top in a nice even mottle it is interesting to note if you look at the tracks you can notice or just make out the ice cleats on the tracks which came out in october 43 so this puts the vehicle production date in or after october 43. it also shows the ss pea pattern panzer unifrom quite nicely that was worn by ss at that time another intersting feature is the muzzle brake and bow machine gun are covered indicating either a new vehicle that hasnt seen much action or they are on there way to the front

hm a good one cyberia but can be done ok firstly the give away is the rear exhaust sheilds they are significant to spzabt 501 in tunisia. they were a feild modification by the repair company. its also interesting to note the full feifel aircleaner units on the back of the rear plate and the two tool boxes situated above the rear mudgaurds the vehicle number is 121 which would be large red and white numbers the paint colour would be the sand or afrika corp yellow . another interesting feature is the turret if you look it has a pistol port where the loaders hatch would be on later production turrets this puts the production date between december 42 and early 43 nice clean example mate

Re: Tiger I-One Tough Cat

this going to sound really mundane i model a few german afv's but the tiger 1 is my main model (maybe thats why i have 20 of them in various models eg late early mid etc in my closet). when i model i try to pick a specific vehicle from an era or unit i like and then go all out to get as much evidence on that particular vehicle from this i have learnt all the tiger models and there varying features plus the references i have help as well. the only two refernces i dont have (which are considerd the bibles of the tiger tank) are the books done by jentz and doyle which im hoping to get this year so with my quest for accuracy it has brought me this far. i am always learning though traust me

Re: Tiger I-One Tough Cat

cyberia mate i have added that one to my collection if you dont mind i dont have that one now as for the identification of the tank this would be a command vehicle of 9/ss panzerregiment 3 totenkopf. the vehicle is numbered 901 in white stenciling seen on tigers of this battalion. an interesting feature is the single monocular sight in the mantlet and the mid production style early loaders hatch just visible behind the commnder in the centre of the photo (you can make out the loader hatch surround on the turret roof) the mantlet was the final production mantlet for the tiger one and the loaders hatch was used in the mid production run so looking at these two featuers the turret would be an interim turret used between march 44 and may 44. if you look at the bottem left corner you can just make out the cut out in the hull extension seen on the late production tiger so at a guess this would be a steel wheeled tiger built after january 44 the actual hull manufacture date cant be confirmed becuase we cant see the rear plate to see if there is the heater torch port visible under the left rear exhaust nice photo again of the unifroms cyberia
