Interesting Tiger I fact. The broad battle tracks were far too wide for these beasts to be transported by rail with out first swapping over to narrower tracks.
In this photo, the broader tracks are stored under the tank until it arrived at its destination, where they were mounted again after the Tiger is off the flatcar.

Road Service


A lull in the action allows a Tiger I some much needed attention. In addition to having a rear idler wheel repaired or replaced, the lowered gun suggest a cleaning. While some crew members see to their own stations, another hooks a hand pump to a drum of oil, identified as such by the center stripe on the drum.
