Re: Growl of the Panther Tank
I knew it was wrong, that's why I used the question mark in the caption.
Actually, after coming across a Pz. IV identified as a Tiger I and a scene from SPR posted as an "actual combat photo", I was thinking of starting a thread with some of these bogus posts. Probably the worse was a solider dead in a doorway. The OP claimed it was a dead American GI even though you could clearly make out the German uniform. Mistakes happen, but some of this stuff is just nuts. ![]()

Re: Growl of the Panther Tank
But the majority will fall for it n' believe the captions. That's the sad truth or is it me n' those like me who's the sad buggers for bein' able to spot such things?

Re: Growl of the Panther Tank
I don't understand why you would think that. Its cool that these things can be found and cleared up.
Think of it as filling potholes along the information highway. Minor stuff like variant designations are one thing, but passing off photoshop as real or blatant disinformation is another.

Re: Growl of the Panther Tank
cyberia a nice photo mate and a good one that shows the various mods of a panther g. various factories ie daimler benz, man etc that produced the panther g had a template from which to build the panther they then would add indivdual changes to the vehicle. this panther g was built in the daimler benz factory due to the fact the gun cleaning rod holder is mounted over the rear deck not on the side as often seen. man produced panther gs often had a single steel wheel road wheel on the rear torsion bar there are many other little features that can identify a panther produced from a particular factory. more fun to be had in the pursuit accuracy

Re: Growl of the Panther Tank
LAH, I found a whole load of photos recently in my "travels". I'll be putting them up a few at a time.
As always your eye for detail and extensive knowledge are greatly appreciated.
